Washington Seaplane Pilots Association (WSPA) Annual Splash-in at Tanglefoot Seaplane Base (D28)
September 10-12, 2021
Priest Lake, Idaho
Greetings and welcome to the 2021 Washington Seaplane Pilots Association (WSPA) annual splash-in at Tanglefoot Seaplane Base on Priest Lake. Event registration is now open!
Situated in lovely Cavanaugh Bay, our gathering will be held at Tanglefoot Seaplane Base (D28), home to Loel and Olson Fenwick. The base features two docks, beach, and ramp space for both straight floats and amphibious aircraft. On wheels, the Cavanaugh Bay Airstrip (66S) is located next door and is operated by Allen Lieske. Accommodations at both the airstrip and seaplane base include camping with restroom facilities. Since most of you will be camping, we encourage you to bring warm clothes for the evening hours. A headlamp will be helpful in traveling between venues and on site after dark.
We have historically had a great response to the event and we look forward to seeing all of you again. This year, we are charging $100 per attendee which includes camping and all meals throughout the weekend. Fees are fully refundable if for any reason the event is canceled.
We are pleased to announce that Aerocet has agreed to become our primary sponsor once again this year. If you come across their folks during the weekend, please extend your thank you for their efforts and commitment to our organization.
As an attendee, you will be required to execute two agreements pertaining to the event: The first is the “Agreement to Assume Risk of Injury and Release of Claims.” The second includes the WSPA “Waiver of Liability.”
The Washington Seaplane Pilots Association (WSPA) will be providing meals throughout the weekend, with dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings catered by Glenda Presley of the Floating Restaurant, The Anchor on Priest Lake. Friday evening will include freshly made pizza and salad with sides and dessert, and Saturday will include pulled pork and chicken sandwiches with salads, sides and dessert.
Special Guests and VIPs
We will also have a guest speaker, Tom Hamilton, on the evening of Saturday, September 11th. Tom is the founder and president of Aerocet, Inc. and has a long history of innovation in aviation as past co-founder at Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft. Tom is a leader in the aviation industry and operates out of Priest River, Idaho.
As with previous years, we have invited a group of Scouts from Sandpoint, Idaho. We need volunteer pilots to coordinate their participation in our fly-out Saturday afternoon. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Last of all, we would like to thank Olson and Loel Fenwick for the gracious opportunity to utilize their private residence and grounds for this fly-in. This is truly a unique spot on earth and to show our appreciation, we would encourage you to practice “Leave No Trace” camping and respect for their personal property.
